Inspiring Education

We believe that it is vitally important that school children are actively encouraged to get involved in science.  With this in mind our Education Tale of Two SquirrelsGroup develop exhibitions and interactive displays to enhance children’s curiosity and provide teachers with the resources and lesson ideas to bring topical science to life in the classroom.

For more information about the exhibits we have developed please see our resources information pack.

At Moredun we are also involved in a number of initiatives to help support the development of Scotland’s next generation of pioneering scientists:

STEM Ambassadors

Our Education Group is run by a strong team of STEM Ambassadors who volunteer their time to act as inspiring role models to young people interested in science, technology, engineering and maths.

For more information about the STEM Ambassador scheme and how your school could benefit please visit the STEMNET website.

Disease Detectives

Edinburgh International Science Festival

Our Education Group bring our interactive exhibitions to life as part of Edinburgh’s International Science Festival, which takes place in April each year.  Look out for our listing in the Science Festival Programme!

We also run activities throughout the year so please do look out for these in our events section.

Nuffield Science Bursary Scheme for Schools and Colleges

Moredun regularly plays host to local fifth year secondary school pupils wishing

to conduct a research project for 4-6 weeks over the summer vacation. The programme is supported by the Nuffield Science Bursary Scheme for Schools and Colleges in Scotland, which is co-ordinated by TechFest SetPoint.

For more information about our work and our latest education initiatives please email us at education@moredun.org.uk.
